I may not know the recipe for success, but I know the ingredients that are required for failure. Just yesterday I was feeling like a loser as I felt struggling with my goals. And then it hit me: I was muddling my goals. I wanted to have my cake and eat it too. Today I thought about the other things that I am doing wrong and I have made a little list of ways to fail at life.
Surefire Ways To Fail At Life
There are only 24 hours in a day, out of which around 12 or more are spent sleeping, eating, showering, and relaxing. It is not possible to do everything on the same day. I will give you my example. I have a job but I have my own gig too. And both my job and my own venture are time-consuming. So, when I am working on my job I worry about my other work. And when I am working on the other thing, I worry about my job. This affects my productivity and in the end, my work suffers. Do not make unrealistic goals as they will only demotivate you frustrate you.
Not Going All In
There are a couple of personal goals that I have had forver, but I never worked on them hard enough. But they are still my top goals and at the back of my mind it bothers me that I haven’t achieved them yet. So, I have decided to go all in now. I will allocate all the required resources and will try my best to achieve those goals. If you have a goal or dream that is dear to you, I’d advice you to go all in too. Sometimes unfulfilled goals and dreams can stop you from progressing and moving on to other goals.
Not Having A Strategy
Just having goals is not enough. You need a system to ensure that you will actually achieve those goals. Shooting in the dark is not going to help you and it will only waste your time.
Results take time and good things come to those who wait. Do not expect results over night. Sometimes results can take years to come. You should be patient and consistent. Do not rush things and keep working hard and the results will come in due time. Impatience is a very bad habit habit and another ingredient to fail at life.
Not Taking A Break
I have a commission based job which means I get money for the work I do. I hadn’t taken a break in a long time and it was making me cranky. It was also slowing me down and I began hating my job. That’s when it hit me that I needed some time off. Working all the time can not only affect your work, but also your physical and mental health. I know it can be tempting sometime to not take a break, but never make this mistake.

Not Allocating Time To Your Goals
Everything requires time. And you need to ensure that you are giving enough time to your different goals every day. Instead of eyeballing the time, track it properly as sometimes we tend to overestimate the time we spent doing a certain task.
Failure To Divide Tasks
Never try to do two things at once. Decide different times for different goals and then work accordingly. If you try to do every thing at the same time, you will not be able to concentrate on anything.
Not Trying Because You Fear Failure
Sometimes we do not give our 100% to our goals as we fear failure. We do not allocate all the required resources because we think we will fale and our time, effort, and money will be wasted. This is the best way to fail at life. By never doing anything because you fear failure, you diminsih your chancess of success. Most off, failure is not a bad thing. Failure is just an experience and it teaches you wonderful lessons.
Not Taking A Risk
Risk is also an important element of success. Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, and the richest person in the world right now, wouldn’t have been where he is today if he hadn’t taken a risk when he was 30. At 30, he quit his job and decided to sell books on the internet. He invested all his money and we can all see where he is today. Bezos said: “It would be a 100 percent chance of regret if I didn’t try and basically a 0 percent chance of regret if I tried and failed.”
Not Learning New Things
If you have a goal, such as baking cakes, writing a book, or developing an app, you need to learn all the tricks of the trade. Passion alone will get you nowhere. We are so lucky to have so many resources on the internet to learn from, so make it your goal to learn something every day.
