The Hair Loss Cure That Worked For Me

It seems like every other person is complaining about hair fall these days. I never had great hair. My hair was always fine and thin, but luckily there was never any hair fall, until last year. They started falling like crazy. Since my hair is already fine and thin, the hair fall made it look worse. There was so much hair in the bathroom. I was beginning to find my hair strands on restaurant tables. Yes, it was that bad. SO, like any other sane person of our generation, I started Googling. There were some hits and misses but by the grace of God, my hair fall is largely under control now. Since I see so many people in Karachi complaining about hair fall, I thought I would share my hair loss cure with you.

Hair Loss Cure

Stop Using Shampoos With Sulfate

The shampoos we abused our hair with our whole lives were choked full of SLS (Sodium Laureth Sulfate). Sulfates are the biggest enemy of your hair. They are like detergents and strip your hair of its natural oils. Shampoo companies use SLS because it makes a lot of foam and it gives you the illusion that you are really cleaning your hair. So, whether your hair is falling or not, you must steer clear of shampoos with sulfates. I know here in Karachi it is difficult to find sulfate free shampoo, but some big superstores do stock them. If you still can’t find a sulfate free shampoo, here is what you can do:

Use Conditioner Only

Some people who suffer from hair loss only co-wash their hair. This means they use conditioner as a shampoo. Conditioners are very nourishing and hydrating. Unlike shampoos, they are not harsh on your hair. But, you can’t just use any conditioner. You need to find a silicone and dimethicone free conditioner. Silicone is not a natural ingredient and it is bad for your hair.

Use An Egg To Wash Your Hair

Eggs cut through the grease and oil in your hair. That is why they are perfect for washing your hair. Additionally, eggs are also very nourishing so they will help reduce and prevent hair fall. Just beat an egg and apply on your hair. Let it stay for 15-20 minutes and then wash off. You can follow with a conditioner if the lingering smell of eggs bother you. Otherwise, you can also use lemons to ward off the smell. Just take a mug of water and squeeze half a lemon in it. Rinse your hair with it. Rinse again with plain water.

However, just using an egg or conditioner is not enough to clean your hair. Ideally, you should get a sulfate free shampoo, but if you can’t you should shampoo only ONCE a week, You can use an egg and conditioner in the middle of the week to refresh your hair and get rid of the greasy feeling. The idea here is to reduce the number of times you use a shampoo with sulfate until you find a sulfate free shampoo.

Use Onion Juice

Onion juice is a widely used remedy for hair loss cure. Hair often starts losing its luster because of the lack of an enzyme known as catalase. Onion juice can reverse this. A study has shown that onion juice can, in fact, help you regrow your hair! Onions have a lot of sulfur. Sulfur is antifungal and antibacterial. It can treat an unhealthy scalp and restore hair health. Sulfur also boosts collagen production. Collagen boosts hair growth and helps increase the production of healthy skin cells. Onion juice may also increase blood circulation to your scalp which in turn would stop or reduce hair fall.

Now that we know that onion juice may be a cure for hair loss, how do we use it? Simple. Apply onion juice on your hair. You can use your juicer to juice an onion. Another option is to blend an onion with some water. Strain the mixture before applying it to your hair. If you do not want to use a juicer or blender, grate an onion very finely and strain it obtain the juice. Try to apply onion juice to your hair at least four times a week. Keep it on for an hour at least.

Fenugreek Paste

Fenugreek seeds contain protein which is good for your hair. Fenugreek seeds also contain nicotinic acid which boosts hair growth. Apart from that, fenugreek seeds contain lecithin which energizes your hair follicles. Fenugreek seeds are also anti-inflammatory so they can help soothe an irritated scalp and get rid of dandruff. Since fenugreek seeds are so beneficial for your hair, they might just be the hair loss cure you are looking for! The best part is that fenugreek seeds are pretty affordable.

To use fenugreek seeds for your hair, just make a fenugreek paste. Boil two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds with 2 cups of water for 5 minutes. It is recommended to do this step at night because we are going to let the water just like that after taking it off the stove. Blend it the next morning. Apply the resultant paste to your hair and leave it for 30 minutes.

This paste will not only reduce hair fall, it will also make your hair bouncy and give it volume. Try to use this paste twice a week.

Protein Intake

Most of our skin and hair problems demonstrate the nutritional deficiencies we have. Your hair is made of a protein called keratin. If your protein consumption is not enough, your hair might suffer. This was certainly the case with. Even now when I reduce protein intake I notice hair fall. If you think you might have a protein deficiency, increase your intake of chicken, meat, fish, egg, and lentils. If you are a light eater or not particularly fond of meat, you can try drinking bone broth. Bone broth has a lot of protein and collagen, so it is not only good for your hair but also for your skin.

Destress Yourself

I know this is easier said than done, but you will have to try. Stress can make your hair fall out like crazy. Try not to worry about anything, including your hair fall! If you cannot make the stress go away, which is understandable, try to increase your fluid intake. While I do not know the science behind this, I do remember reading that when we are stressing out, we get dehydrated. This is why some people breakout when they are under a lot of stress. Same may be true for hair fall as well. The nutrient supply to your hair and skin decreases when you are under stress. So, if you somehow manage to replenish your body with fluid, you might avoid stress-induced hair fall.

I have shared my hair loss cure and listed things that worked for me. There was a time when I was losing so much hair that my middle parting was getting wider. It made me panic a lot as my hair is already thin and fine. BY doing the things mentioned above, I have managed to bring my hair fall down. Please remember that a little hair fall is normal. An average person loses 50 to 100 hair strands every day. But, anything beyond that is not OK.

If your hair is falling at an alarming rate, don’t panic. Panicking will only exacerbate the problem. Try the things I have mentioned above. I am sure they will help you a lot. Please remember that results will take time to appear. It took me almost a year to cure my hair loss. You might see results sooner if you abandon your sulfate laden shampoo right away and replace it with a sulfate free shampoo. I hope this hair loss cure works for you! If you know of any hair loss cure that works and I have missed, let me know in the comments below!
