Let me begin by saying I am neither a naysayer nor a brat. I am not very picky when it comes to food. I was pretty excited to try Tavern Grill Karachi because of the rave reviews it received on a popular food group on Facebook. Unfortunately, Tavern Grill Karachi was nothing but a disappointment for me. Read on to find out why!
Tavern Grill Karachi Review
I had been meaning to try Tavern Grill Karachi since quite some time. I hadn’t read a single negative review on it. A lot of people recommended it. The pictures they posted of their food looked scrumptious. I just couldn’t wait to try it. So one fine Thursday, we headed to Tavern Grill. And it is safe to say that we would never be setting our foots there ever again.
The restaurant itself is pretty spacious. The air conditioning is good. The furniture is a little worn out and the floor also needs a makeover. Despite the large area, there is no semblance of privacy. Maybe the interior needs a makeover. The restaurant was pretty empty, which was pretty surprising.
Tavern Grill is apparently a continental restaurant that specializes in Mexican food. Sadly, the food did not reflect that. We ordered three things: Philly Cheese Wrapper, Nachos, and Beef Fajita. I was especially excited about the Nachos as I had read a lot of good reviews about it.
The first off putting thing was the rice served with the Beef Fajita. It seemed a little off. Upon request, the rice was changed and we got a new plate of equally spoiled rice. Way to go!
The Nachos are what I went to Tavern for. I was looking forward to it. I was expecting to have tortilla chips drizzled with cheese, sour cream, and a hint of salsa. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any cheese or sour cream in the salsa. The Nachos seemed more like chaat. Why would I spend 595 PKR on a chaat named salsa? Needless to say, I was thoroughly disappointed.
I had Beef Fajita at Sizzlers Karachi and I couldn’t stop talking about it. It was a delight, unlike the one I had at Tavern Grill Karachi. The beef was pretty tasteless. The sauces could do nothing to enhance the flavor. It wasn’t bad, but there are better options in the market. I felt like I wasted my 795 PKR after eating it.
Question Number One: Why was there no Cheese in the Philly CHeese Wrapper? To be honest, it was pretty much like the Beef Fajita rolled in a flour tortilla. There was neither any cheese nor any source. As a consolation, the fries were pretty good.
The Pina Colada was good. Is that because the preparation of a Pina Colada requires no culinary skills? The Pina Colada was priced at PKR 265.

Overall, the Tavern Grill Karachi was a disappointment, especially because I had high expectations of it. Everything tasted pretty bland. On the plus side, the serving size was pretty good, but then who wants to eat a lot, if the food isn’t appetizing? The Pina Colada and the French Fries were the stars of the night.
